INNOVATOR,  STRATEGIST,  ENTREPRENEUR,  AND  EDUCATOR

Hugo Giralt Echevarría (b. Jul 3, 1973) works to inspire others through optimistic innovative interactive projects that link the digital and physical worlds through meaningful human experiences. He is an innovator, strategist, entrepreneur and educator. His projects range from designing complex multiplatform social networks inside large corporations like Telefónica and The Coca-Cola Company to co-founding socially responsible collaborative platforms that focus on sharing optimism and inspiring ideas with others like Planet Idea, ilustrae.com or Voces. In Telefónica, he co-created the first multiplatform (mobile+PC+TV) social network launched by a telecommunications company (keteke) launched in November 2008, which is in constant evolution (perpetual beta mode). As the head of innovation at Telefónica’s School of Excellence for Leadership, he has helped to shape the program and prepare future innovation leaders in the organization. He is also the co-creator of “El Movimiento Coca-Cola”, an innovative online multiplayer game platform with a virtual coin found in all Coca-Cola bottles launched in 1998. This renowned and award-winning project obtained international recognition by earning The Coca-Cola Company Marketing Excellence Award in 2005 and served as a creative hotspot for the global interactive strategy. He has made other innovative projects about music, movies, sports, ecommerce, social media, and experiential marketing. After obtaining a bachelor in entrepreneurial studies and marketing at Babson College, he worked at Unicef, Coca-Cola (in Madrid and London), and Telefónica designing and developing the interactive multimedia strategy while combining his job with his social activism and teaching activity in several Internet business programs. He is a board member of the NGO Voces founded by his father in 2006, co-founder of the NGOs support platform Sector3, and co-founder blogger of the eye-opening ilustrae.com (reference blog in Spain). Born in Madrid, Spain, Hugo lives as a global and digital citizen looking to expand his mindset by learning through interaction with other cultures and his dog Harpito whenever is possible.

Most recently, his employer Telefónica has sponsored him partially to pursue a 2-year master degree program in design starting Fall 2010. He believes creative design can transform society, the planet, and organizations through human-centered design and wants to be a key change element in that space.
